Counselling sessions

  • Counselling is a process that can help people express themselves to a professional person outside of their situation.  Sometimes it can help make choices or reach decisions about how to handle your concerns.

  • I am a person-centred counsellor, this means that you are the centre of all of the work that we may undertake together.  I will be by your side as we explore issues that are important to you and I will listen to you openly, and without judgement.  You will lead the sessions and I will not dictate where they will go, I have absolute trust that you know what is best for you.

  • I will be genuine and accepting of you as you present yourself to me, and I will work towards understanding you as deeply as I can.

  • Person-centred counsellors, like myself, believe that by offering you my genuine self and being accepting of you as you are, our therapeutic relationship will enable you to move towards fulfilling your own personal potential.

Fees

  • The fee is £45.00 per 50 minute session.

  • Fees are usually due at the end of each session, with the exception of the first session which is secured by bank transfer beforehand. Payment can be made by cash, bank transfer, or mobile.

  • I offer concessionary rates at my own discretion, please contact me for details.

Cancellations and Endings

  • Life happens - I will always contact you should I need to cancel, I ask that you do the same with me and that we try to give each other as much notice as possible.  With this in mind I will charge 50% of my fee for cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice.

  • When sessions are due to finish, or you feel that you want to end, please come and discuss this with me so that we can work towards an ending that feels safe and satisfactory to you.

Confidentiality

  • Everything that happens in your therapy sessions with myself remains confidential between us, with the following exceptions;

  •  As part of my ethical responsibility I undertake clinical supervision where aspects of my work will be discussed.  I will never name you or give details that could identify you.

  • If I believed you were in danger of causing serious harm to yourself, or to others, or if you told me that children or vulnerable adults were at risk, I would seek to break confidentiality.  This would also be the case if there was a threat to National Security.

  • I may contact your GP or other medical professionals if I believed that you were likely to cause serious harm to yourself.

  •   If subpoenaed to give evidence in court, I would have to do so.

  • If I do need to break confidentiality, (for the reasons stated above), I will always endeavour to work with you, so that you know what I am doing, and why.  I believe in ‘doing with’ and not ‘doing to’ as far as is possible.
